Most languages do not use the same word order as English. If “Grace/Fight before love” is the word-for-word translation, it’s entirely possible that it could be “Love before fight” after proper conjugation. If you look at the sentence structure of the Thalassian phrases they do not make sense if you translate each word separately, so I think that this could be what the coin says.

Thanks Daniel, I’m glad I am not the only one who find this sort of things fun and I hope there will be more stuff like this to find and ponder about :-)

Darnassian and Thalassian are languages derived from the same root I guess, so it can be expected that our translations will match rather good, and the varying use of capitals on the coin opens up for different interpretations, I agree.

The elves might well consider Sylvanas a disgrace, but I don’t think Vareesa does, so in this context I’d go for the talah = survival, let us all live.

Good job, and I hope you will get your term paper finished as well :-)

And the final line: well as I stated in an earlier comment I believ you have the right of the translation there. Silvermoon is translated to Isera’duna and I believe your reasoning as to why she would say it is accurate as well. Anyways I hope this helps anyone else who was as… well lets say “curious” as me as to the meaning of the coin. I feel accomplished and at the same time saddened because I spent more work on this translation than my term paper for English Comp this semester… Oh well such is the life of a gamer XD.

Since my brain (and fingers) are tired and the only other phrase I could fnd was “Talah shar’adore” meaning “Grace/Fight beforelove”. Sadly the most comprehensible phrase I can make out of this is “Grace before love” which I have no idea WHY she would say so I think I will go with your translation from the “accepted” words of translation (I mean really it’s not even a good representative of the words on the coin XD).

As a side note (something I personally found ironic and insightful) while attempting to translate the 3rd line I typed in “disgrace” (I found grace to be translated as tlah and wanted to be sure there wasn’t meaning to the “A’”). Anyways the word that came up is the same word for the translation of Sylvanas’ name. I wonder if this is coincidence or whether the elves consider Sylvanas a disgrace…

Turos Fulo Il’amare. This was a tuffy. The closest I was able to come (after a few hours of hard work) was “Grant love Sylvanas”. Now grammar does not always translate (i.e. White House in english is Casa Blanca in spanish) so I’m merely making the assumption that Turus = Turos (as you were Tessy) and that the wish here is to Grant Sylvanas (her) love. Currently working on 3rd verse though I assume your guess about the final verse is right because it DEFINATELY makes sense and I got the same result as the name translation.

Afte MUCH research and in-game testing (all credit to you because I got the idea from you) I have as accurate a translation as we are likely to see. I used Thalassian instead of Darnassian and I tested and did guess work til I found a Perfect word-for-word match of the first line! I’m currently working on the second line now (though there the only word that matches with your translation so far is “Sylvanas” XD. Asto’re da shan’re. -Goodbye to Terenas (or MAYBE revered since it also yielded the word “shan’re”. I believe this holds some merit because shan’re is not capitalized on the coin which means its entirely possible for it to not be a name). So theres my version (of the first line atleast) I’m currently working on the rest.

Brilliant! If I were you, I would post this finding on Wowwiki and Wowhead, because if your translation of the makes is more accurate (and it makes a hell of a lot more sense) it should be posted as the translation.
